The Conroe Rangerettes were first organized by Karen Hicks, Bobbie Cox and Sylvia Null in 1975. They were the mothers of three young ladies that wanted to perform in a drill team but the only organizations that were available at the time involved driving to Houston to perform. These ladies approached, then YMCA Director, Mr. Bill Dawson about the idea. Mr. Dawson was thrilled with the idea to have a drill team performing at YMCA football games. However, Mr. Dawson had a couple of requirements of the team before he would approve it. He had always admired the Kilgore College Rangerettes and he wanted Conroe's drill team to have the same name. He also wanted the team to share the same colors as the college drill team that they were named after. In the early years these ladies directed a drill team of around 30 girls along with starting an organization from the ground up. There were uniforms to make and dance routines that needed to be choreographed. They enlisted the help of several Conroe High School Golden Girl drill team members to choreograph the routines and fielded a team of young ladies that made wonderful memories for all involved.
